Over 100 years of Experience in Grand Haven, Michigan
Harbor Lights Dental Care is one of the oldest, continuously operating dental practices in Michigan. After graduating from the University of Michigan in 1898, Dr. John Meiras officially started his Grand Haven dental practice in 1901. For many years, he practiced dentistry from the second floor of the historic Peoples Savings Bank, located (at the time) on the southeast corner of Washington Ave. and Third St. Grand Haven, Michigan. Dr. Jack Leitner joined Dr. Meiras in 1950, taking over the practice after Dr. Meiras retired in 1955.
Dr. Leitner served hundreds of patients over a 40-year period, leading up to his eventual retirement in 1990, at which point his son, Dr. John Leitner, took over. Like his father, Dr. John Leitner served the people of Grand Haven and surrounding areas for nearly four decades. Now under the helm of Dr. Colin Pellegrom and his all-star team, the legacy continues with Harbor Lights Dental, a beacon of oral health and hygiene for the lakeshore communities of West Michigan!

Colin Pellegrom DDS, MHS
Dr. Pellegrom provides evidence-based, patient-centered care with added emphasiss on transparency and trust. He built Harbor Lights Dental Care on a foundation of respect and comfort for all. Dr. Pellegrom says, "I love everything this community has to offer, and often find myself chatting with patients about their lives, community connections, and favorite activities like beaching, boating, skiing, and the great outdoors in general!”
Dr. Pellegrom is a lifelong resident of Grand Haven, Michigan. He earned his Michigan State undergraduate degree (BS – Biochemistry and Biotechnology), a Grand Valley State graduate (MHS – Biomedical Science), and an Indiana University graduate (DDS – Doctor of Dental Surgery).
Angel | Registered Dental Hygienist
Angel is a dedicated and experienced professional with a rich educational background and a genuine passion for patient care. Family is her greatest joy, and she loves to spend time with her loved ones, whether it’s cooking, baking, swimming, reading, or enjoying a good board game. Her friendly, approachable demeanor and passion for both her work and personal life make her a valued member of our team.
Jessica | Insurance Coordinator
As a Certified Dental Assistant, Jessica has nearly a decade of experience in the field of dentistry. Her extensive knowledge and passion for patient care shine through in everything she does. When asked about the best part of her job, Jessica says it’s helping patients in every way possible—whether that’s navigating their insurance or ensuring they leave with a smile on their face.
Kaelynn | Patient Coordinator
With a diverse background in both orthodontics and medical administration, Kaelynn brings a unique blend of expertise and attention to detail to her role. Outside of work, Kaelynn is happily married and shares her home with their beloved fur baby, Oakley. She enjoys spending quality time with family, around town and out on the lake, making the most of Michigan’s beautiful outdoors.

With a deep commitment to patient education and comfort, Alex brings a compassionate and thoughtful approach to every interaction. She believes that educating patients is key to empowering them and making sure they feel informed and comfortable at every step of their care journey. Her top priority is always providing the highest quality of care, ensuring that every patient receives the attention and expertise they deserve.
Darbee | Registered Dental Assistant
With over 30 years of dental experience, Darbee brings not only a wealth of knowledge but also an infectious enthusiasm for helping others. Darbee has spent the last four years as the MTec instructor for the adult Dental Assisting program, where she helps others pursue their passion for dentistry. Her dedication to educating and inspiring future dental professionals is a testament to her love for the field.
Cureana | Dental Assistant
Cureana is dedicated to helping patients feel safe, comfortable, and at ease during their dental visits—a role she is truly passionate about. Outside of her professional life, Cureana is happily married and the proud mother of two beautiful children. When she’s not caring for patients or cheering on her kids at sporting events, Cureana is all about the outdoors. She loves spending time surrounded by nature.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I get a dental cleaning?
We recommend getting a dental cleaning every six months. For some patients who have a higher risk for bacterial infections, Dr. Pellegrom may recommend more frequent appointments.
Do you take dental insurance?
Yes, we accept most dental insurance plans at our office and we work with Delta Dental.
Do you offer payment plans?
We partner with CareCredit to offer convenient options for breaking up your bill into affordable monthly payments. In some cases, you can even finance your dental treatment interest-free.
Do you charge for missed appointments?
If patients don’t notify us 48 hours in advance of any changes or cancellations to your appointment, a fee of $50.00 will be charged to your account. We do reserve the right to waive the fee when there are extenuating circumstances, however.
